Join organizer Mary Lucas, friends and family for a walk to take back the very park where Mary was attacked on January 1st, 2011 and to raise funds to support victims of violent crimes in Marion County.
The walk (about 1.5 miles) will begin and end at the Carousel at Salem’s Riverfront Park. It is a family-friendly walk on solid, flat ground. Walkers, strollers, pets and neighbors are welcome! Participants will walk along the Willamette River, over the footbridge, and then return. Hot chocolate, coffee and other goodies will be available.
For those who would like to register or make a donation the day of the event, you may do so. $15 per person; maximum of $30 for entire family! Cash and checks (payable to “CrossWalk”) are preferred for event-day transactions.

Marion County Victim Assistance ProgramIn 1981, the Marion County District Attorney established the Victim Assistance Division. Over the years, the program has grown in its mission and contributions to the community. They work closely with more than fifty volunteers in providing services to victims of violent crimes in Marion County.They fulfill this mission by:
Providing direct victim services
Advocating for victim rights
Offering volunteer opportunities
Providing education and promote public awareness
Promoting professional and agency communication
The Victim Assistance program provides 24-hour on-call response for the victims of sexual assault and for the surviving loved ones of homicide victims. They provide support through the prosecution of a case for victims of child abuse, stalking, elder abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence and homicide, as well as services to victims of other types of violent and traumatic crimes.
